St Croix Petapalooza 2013
Working together we can accomplish so much more than any of us can accomplish alone
2nd Annual St Croix Petapalooza
Sunday 9/15/13 Hoffman Park, River Falls, WI 11 AM - 3 PM
Who are these organizations? This event is the joint efforts of these 501c3 organizations: PAWS of Western WI, Gregory’s Gift of Hope Rescue & Adoption Center, Helping Hands for Pets, CatTown Rescue, and St. Croix Animal Friends.
These organizations work hard to provide our St. Croix Valley communities with:
* Spay/Neuter Assistance to provide reduced fees for the altering of family pets in need of help. * Trap, Neuter & Release (TNR) that helps control the over- population of farm, feral, and stray cat colonies. * Pet Food Assistance for families struggling to feed their beloved furry friends. *Financial Assistance for basic needs to keep a pet in its home rather than be surrendered or euthanized due to financial limitations. * Foster Home Programs to provide a temporary, safe and loving environment for homeless and unwanted pets * Adoption Programs and a Rescue/Adoption Center where unwanted pets find permanent homes after receiving medical care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, and lots of love. * Pet Finding Network to find and report lost pets in our St. Croix Valley communities. * In the future to build a Humane Society facility on already purchased land in St Croix county.

The Badlands Rd by Roberts is closed before where you would turn to go to the park. Please take the freeway or Hywy 12 to 65 to get there.

HOUND HIKE
The park is beautiful in the fall even if the leaves are past their peak with the dry weather we have had this year. It is soooo peaceful to walk the road along the lakes. The ducks and geese are not in plenty yet but the resident flocks are there waiting to call down any flying visitors. You can relax on a bench and watch the reflections of the almost leafless trees....ahh I love to search for an eagle souring over. The reflection on the lake makes them look even bigger than they are.
As I walk the mowed paths through the woods, Banana does what a terrier does best. Snort around the leaves and brush smelling the activity of the mice getting ready for winter. If she is lucky, she will catch one but it is just as fun to pounce around the debri chasing them. Loona loves the fields since the pheasants, bobwhites, and turkeys are active. Nothing more beautiful than a GWP on point showing me "there is a bird"! I am always amazed as I walk up on her motionless, statue like, point and there is a pheasant for me to flush. Why would I have any doubt? She is never wrong and the "search and pointing" game starts again after I kick up the bird. I love the partnership we have in the field! Nothing makes me more happy than working with my dogs.
We ask you to keep your dog on a leash at this event, even in the woods and fields. With so many other people and dogs in the area, it is for their safety. Watch your dog during your hike and see how he can show you some amazing things with his nose!

ADOPTABLE FURRY FRIENDS
You can go to the website to see more information and photos. All pets are up to date on vaccinations and are spayed/neutered.
PAWS of Western WI Buttercup (foster home calls her Lilly) is a very sweet, 1 year old girl. She is a lab mix with short black hair and a white patch on her chest. She is in a foster home where she has made herself at home! She's getting along with the other dogs, loves playing fetch with a ball, and walks really well on a leash. Buttercup is currently working hard in a beginner training class and already knows simple comands like sit, stay, lay down, shake, and how to hit a target. Buttercup is housebroken. She is thriving, and so happy to have a "foster family". Since she is so easygoing, we are sure she'll be just fine around cats. This little girl just wants to find a loving home she can call her own!! She's not very photogenic. While her pictures may not make her look very pretty, this dog is absolutely beautiful!
More dogs possibly coming but don't know exactly which ones. 2 black kittens just finished their health visit and may also be there. One has 6 toes!
Gregory's Gift of Hope Bubba is a beautiful black Labrador retriever is approx 2 -3 years old. Up to date on vaccinations and neutered. Very loving loyal dog, some general obedience training has been done with him and he walks well on a leash. Bubba came to GGOH via Animal control after being reported wandering in a neighborhood. No one has claimed this sweet boy.
Paco is a sweet loving Papillon who was surrendered by his owner after 8 years because "she did not have enough time" for him. Paco is going on 10 years old now, he has been with us at GGOH awaiting a new furever home since Nov 2011. Paco needs someone who can spend some time helping him understand an appropriate human/canine relationship. He truly is a sweet boy he just gets a little energetic, yes even at almost 10 yrs old, as this is typical Papillon temperament.
Odie is such a sweet sweet little guy. Odie LOVES big dogs, his best friends have been Mastiff size dogs. He loves to go for walks, walks well on his leash and knows general commands. Odie joined us after being fostered for another group and when the foster mom needed to return him the rescue group would not help, GGOH stepped in to rescue the rescue.
Cats coming but no information at this time of which ones.

Jazzy is a very sweet girl who is about 4 months old. She was rescued from an over-populated, high kill animal control facility. Jazzy is a very cute puppy, and her partially blue eye makes her even more unique! She has tons of puppy energy and does great with other dogs. Jazzy is very outgoing and doesn't have a shy bone in her body! At night she loves to cuddle up close with you and fall asleep in your lap. She is doing very well with leash training and loves to go on walks with her foster brother Simba. We're sure that she won't have any problems with cats or children. She deserves a real chance at life and a family that will love her unconditionally.
