SUNDAY 9/15/13 from 12-4
HOFFMAN PARK in RIVER FALLS

Pets are welcome!

This event is to help increase our community’s awareness and support of our St. Croix Valley pet related non-profit organizations who help our neighbors and pets in need.

This event is the joint efforts the 5 organizations in the above menu.

These organizations work hard to provide our St. Croix Valley communities with:
* Spay/Neuter Assistance to provide reduced fees for the altering of family pets in need of help.
* Pet Food Assistance for families struggling to feed their beloved furry friends. *Financial Assistance for basic needs to keep a pet in its home rather than be surrendered or euthanized due to financial limitations. * Foster Home Programs to provide a temporary, safe and loving environment for homeless and unwanted pets * Adoption Programs where unwanted pets find permanent homes after receiving medical care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, and lots of love. * Pet Finding Network to find and report lost pets in our St. Croix Valley communities. * In the future to build a Humane Society facility on already purchased land in St Croix county.

Activities are listed on the left. Click & view.

PETS ARE ALLOWED RULES

STOP AT THE ENTRANCE TABLE AS YOU MUST SIGN A RELEASE IF YOU HAVE YOUR PET. The waiver says that you are responsible for your pet's actions and your pet will be on leash at all times.   This does include all the Non-Profits with adoptable pets.

Please keep your dog on leash as you walk the paths through the park and in the woods.

No dogs will be allowed in the building or bathrooms.  If you need someone to handle your dog, just ask someone.  There will be plenty of dogless people near by.

No pets are allowed to be left in cars.

Bring your pet his own water bottle or bowl.  There is an outside faucet on the garage facing the hockey rink..  A wading pool will also be available for cooling down.

PLEASE PICK UP AFTER YOUR PET IN THE PARK AREA AND WOODS.  It is what a responsible pet owner does!  You will be given a poop bag when you enter and there are always more available.

REMEMBER YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DOG'S ACTIONS!

MUSIC BY CATTAIL STRING BAND

We are excited to have Cattail String Band to entertain us this year! The Cattail String Band is a musical "group" in the truest sense of the word. All four members contribute on lead and back-up vocals, as well as multiple stringed and percussion instruments.

Tight harmonies, original songs and fresh interpretations of great music from a broad range of styles makes for a truly fun time. They are one of the most fun groups to form in this region. Their music is as diverse as their personalities! If it's worth singing.........they'll sing it. Celtic, Americana, Folk Rock, Gospel, "Softgrass", Country, originals, & who knows?????? Their appeal is so wide ranging, you see them one day in a biker-bar and next day doing a church benefit!

Cattail String Band is supporting CatTown Rescue so please stop by and drop off a donation in their Kitty Tin.

LOST PET, FOUND PET MICROCHIPPING

Cocker Spaniel Resources will be micro-chipping.  You can have your pet implanted with a microchip and join the national registry at the event.  Registered microchips give lost pets the best chance of returning home.
Mickey B is looking for a loving home.
The statistics indicate that missing pets rarely make it home:
• The American Humane Association estimates over 10 million dogs and cats are lost or stolen in the U.S. every year.
• One in three pets will become lost at some point during their life.
A study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, including 53 animal shelters across the U.S., confirmed the high rate of return of microchipped dogs and cats to their families, and the importance of microchip registration. From the study:
• Only about 22 percent of lost dogs that entered the animal shelters were reunited with their families. However, the return-to-owner rate for microchipped dogs was over 52 percent (a 238 percent increase).
• Less than 2 percent of lost cats that entered the animal shelters were reunited with their families. The return-to-owner rate for microchipped cats was dramatically higher at over 38 percent (more than 2000 percent better).
• Only 58 percent of the microchipped animals’ microchips had been registered in a database with their pet parent’s contact information.

Every veterinarian in St Croix county has a scanner to read a microchip.
